Coffee Morning

Portadown Boat Club would like to invite all members of the public and Club members to our Coffee morning – 10am-1pm, Saturday 23rd November.

It is on the same morning as our Family Sponsored Cycle so the Club will be buzzing with atmosphere.

So if you are in Portadown that morning or out enjoying a walk along the tow path come in and enjoy a warm cuppa and a delicious homemade slice of cake, bun or tray bake.

Both events are raising money for a Junior quad boat.

Fundraising Events

Portadown Boat Club Committee have organised a number of family social events for Autumn to raise money for new boats.

The Club would like to buy a new Junior Girls Quad.  This reconditioned boat costs £10,000.  The Club will pay half of this cost with the other half being met with the Club fundraising events.  It is hoped that if we can raise the £5,000 any money raised after this will go towards other much need equipment such as more boats, blades and ongoing maintenance for existing boats. GB Squad for Portadown Boat Club men

Two men who began rowing with us at Portadown, Nathan Hull and Sam McKeown have been enjoying great success this summer.
At the British Universities Championships they each won gold medals in singles (Nathan at Intermediate, and Sam at Senior), they had a Silver medal together in Senior Doubles, and a Gold Medal together in the Senior Quad.

Sam McKeown (2nd right) presented his GB one-piece, Gold medals & signed blade to PBC President Kevin McDonagh (l), Louis Hesbrook, PBC Captain, Peter Dick (centre) PBC Head Coach & QUB coach & Stephen Donovan (r) PBC Vice-Captain.
Sam, representing Britain at the Opening ceremony of the European Universities Rowing Championship in Sweden, Sept 2019.
Nathan Hull, (left) representing GB at the European Under 23’s Championship in Greece, September 2019 in the Double with Oliver Dix.

Nathan then joined the U23 British squad in Caversham while Sam went to train with Leander Club in Henley. Both got through rounds at Henley Royal Regatta.
Nathan competed in the European U23 championships in Greece last weekend for Great Britain in the Double Scull, missing out on a place in the A final to the Swiss double, who went on to win Bronze, by one third of a second. Nathans double finished Eighth of 16 international crews.

Sam also competed for Queens University last weekend at the European Universities Championships in Sweden, where he won a gold medal in very challenging conditions against a large field which included many senior international athletes.
This Completes a trio of achievements this year as he is we believe the first person to have won Gold medals in the single scull at British, European and World University championships, and all in the same year!
