Welcome to Portadown Boat Club

There are over 100 members at Portadown Boat Club made up of Juniors (aged 12 – 18), Club level (aged 18+) and Masters level (aged 27+).  Each year the Club hosts 2 major events in the Rowing Ireland calendar:  the Portadown Boat Club Regatta and the Portadown Boat Club Marascull.  There has been rowing on the River Bann at Portadown since 1877.

Our crews row in singles, doubles, pairs, fours, quads and eights and compete in events throughout Ireland.  Many Juniors and Club members compete at Irish Championship level.  Find out more about joining Portadown Boat Club here.

Portadown Boat Club has great facilities including a Boat House and Club House with fully equipped gym over looking the River Bann, rowing machines (Concept 2 ergs), changing rooms, committee rooms and car parking facilities.

  • Rowing Summer Camp – enroll NOW!

    Summer Camp posterPortadown Boat Clubs Rowing Summer Camp takes place in August 2019 for all boys and girls aged 12 – 18.

    You can come along for just one of the weeks or 2 weeks.  Each session runs from 10am to 4pm.  The Camp is suitable for complete beginners who want the opportunity to try rowing and to develop their skills and confidence – and have some fun!

    Participants need to be able to swim.

    The Rowing Camp runs 10am – 4pm.

    How much does it cost?

    The cost per child is £70 each week.  There is a £15 discount for each additional child from the same family.

    What should I wear?

    You don’t need any special equipment for rowing.  Just wear track suit/jogging bottoms / leggings and a t-shirt with trainers.  Dress appropriately for the weather so you will also want to bring a fleece/sweater/hoodie and a light rain coat.  Sunglasses are also good.

    Bring a towel and a change of clothes just in case!

    Who supervises the Camp?

    Our club rowing coaches run the camp.  They all have Rowing Ireland coaching qualifications and have Access NI certificates.  While on the water they children are supervised by coaches in launches (boats).

    Are the children insured?

    All participants are covered by Portadown Boat Club insurance.
